John 16:25-33

A Parable is a comparison that teaches a moral or religious lesson.

There is only one interpretation of scripture, but there are many applications.

What is your favorite parable:________________________________________.

In John 16:26 , Jesus says that we will ask in my name.

“In that day you will ask in My name. I am not telling you that I will make requests to the Father on your behalf.” (John 16:26 )

In Galatians 3:26 we are called the children of God.

“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith…” (Galatians 3:26 ) [NIV]

When you ask for rain, you better bring your umbrella.

In James 4:1-3 (ESV) 1 What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions[a] are at war within you?[b] You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.”

  •  we are told that we do not have, because you do not ask.
  • we do not receive because we ask wrongly.

In the Disciples Prayer (Lord’s Prayer) in Matthew 6:9-10 we are to pray to the Father, and we are to ask for his will.

Therefore, you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, Your name be honored as holy. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:9-10 )
